2024 marks a special anniversary for or Lacker: our company now looks back on a 60-year history in which it has evolved from a small metalworking shop to an experienced facade and louvre window specialist with a headcount of just under one hundred. Customer focus, high quality standards and lived values will continue to be our winning formula for the future.
As a sustainable construction material, wood is in greater demand than ever before. 2024 sees Lacker deliver its first project with a timber/aluminium facade.
2023
Where requested by the client, Lacker louvre windows can now be supplied as bigAir® Green Technology products. Through this novelty – which involves the use of aluminium sections comprising at least 75% recycled, end-of-life aluminium . Lacker is responding to the growing trend towards sustainability in construction and living. It moves buildings one step closer to sustainability certification, e.g. as provided by the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council).
2021
Stefan Störzer joins Frank Lacker in the senior management team. His appointment as Managing Director comes after 22 years of service to the company. Lacker was even the place where he completed his training as a metalworker, specializing in design technology.
2020
Company founder Herbert Lacker passes away at the age of 83. With his inventive spirit, his indefatigable commitment and strong vision, he shaped the company like no other.
2018
Lacker establishes itself in both the facade and window systems segment, with a clientele that includes a host of high-profile firms. While remaining a joint-stock company, Lacker hitherto operates as a “Gesellschaft mit begrenzter Haftung”, broadly equivalent to a private limited company, with Frank Lacker as managing partner.

From 2018 onwards, the welding approval under EN 1090-2 is extended from Execution Class EXC2 to EXC3.
2014
2014 sees the launch of factory production control (FPC) to EN 1090.
2013
Continuing on its successful trajectory, Lacker AG marks the start of the new financial year with a new milestone, as Lacker bigAir® becomes the first and thus far only all-glass louvre window to pass the rigorous ball impact resistance test to DIN EN 18032-3. A further testament to the supreme quality of our products and our technology leadership in the all-glass louvre window segment.
2011
The demand for Lacker products steadily rises. To guarantee a reliable service and on-time delivery for customers despite this growing popularity, the production facilities are extended by 800 m².
2010
Development and market launch of a louvre window drive with an IP (ingress protection) rating of 67. This allows louvre windows to be installed in facilities subject to extreme operating conditions with dust, dirt, fibre fly and water action (e.g. indoor swimming pools, indoor botanical gardens and zoos).
2008
Initial certification to ISO 9001.
2007
Lacker’s bigSwing all-glass top-hung and side-hung windows pass the NSHEV test to DIN EN 12101-2 for an area of up to 5 m2. An achievement unmatched for top-hung windows of this size by any other company in the sector.
2005
Inauguration of a further, 1,000 m2 factory hall for the manufacture of power-operated facade and window units.
2004
Product rollout and launch of series production for the bigAir® 400 SG louvre window.
2003
The experience gathered from previous developments, coupled with new aesthetic and performance requirements imposed by customers, culminates in the design and patenting of the new bigAir® SG (structural glazing) vent. The bigAir® SG principle is applied to assemblies with blade heights of 250 to 450 mm using the same design concept.
2002
As part of the management succession process, Lacker becomes a joint-stock company and is renamed “Lacker AG”. Company founder Herbert Lacker becomes Chairman of the Supervisory Board and gradually withdraws from the operating business. Sons Andreas and Frank Lacker become shareholders. Frank Lacker is appointed as the sole Managing Director.
2001
Extension of existing factory facilities and warehouses to cover over 6,800 m².
1999
Entry into the market for water-heated and -cooled facade and glass roof systems.
1998
Launch of series production for bigAir® 200 and introduction of ISO 9001 by TÜV (German Technical Inspections Organization).

Design, construction and patenting of three new window types:
1. topSwing flush top-hung window for installation in sloping facades
2. bigSwing top-hung window for installation in vertical glazed areas
3. bigAir® 200 louvre window.
1993
Establishment of Lacker Systemvertrieb GmbH.
After completing his studies at Ulm University of Applied Sciences (engineer with FH degree, steel and metalwork / European Welding Engineer), Frank Lacker, son of the company founder, joins the firm.

The sealing and glazing system developed in 1984 is now marketed to other metalwork companies.

Design and patenting of sealing and glazing system for exclusive use in Lacker’s own steel/glass facade and glass roofing projects.
1972
The company’s continuing success is reflected by its steady growth. The setting-up of Lacker’s own design office and the continuous enlargement of its production facilities create new jobs. The form of the expanding company is changed from a sole proprietorship to a “GmbH & Co KG” limited partnership.
1971
Herbert Lacker designs the first rubber mounts for glass with preformed water channels to match all standard steel sections. The following years see the industry-wide adoption of this system, thus paving the way for the company’s entry into the inclined glazing and glass roof sectors.
1970
The company specializes in the manufacture and installation of dry (putty-free) glazing using non-sanded roofing felt strips.
1968
The metalworking shop relocates from the rented premises to its own new residential and workshop building.
1964
Herbert Lacker sets up a metalworking shop. In a 40 m2 rented workshop, he carries out standard metalworking jobs and fabricates steel staircases. His wife Karin handles the administrative tasks. This lays the foundations for the present-day Lacker AG.
