Applications
A versatile Choice
Our bigAir® louvre windows are system-independent. They can be installed in any stick-system assembly, wall reveals and timberwork structures. They are ideal for ventilating halls or other spaces and for use as large-area NSHEV units.
Ready-assembled delivery
To allow prompt and trouble-free installation, we supply the windows as fully pre-assembled units complete with glazing. This means that our façade louvre windows can be installed as easily as fixed glazing. This allows straightforward fitting of our facade louvre windows – in much the same way as fixed lights – with no time lost through fine adjustment of hardware etc..
From indoor pool to high-rise
The potential applications are virtually unlimited.
- Indoor and adventure pools (motor with IP 67 rating)
- Indoor tropical gardens (motor with IP 67 rating)
- Towers and high-rise buildings
- Administrative facilities
- Public buildings and facilities
- Industrial and factory sheds
- Schools and universities
- Festival halls, sports and multi-purpose venues
- Hospitals and clinics
- Churches
- Hotels
- Residential buildings and conservatories
Blades
A full panoply of blades
Our bigAir® louvre units are manufactured, to your specifications, with
- Single glazing
- Double glazing
- Solar-control glazing
- Solar-control glazing
- Insulated sheet-metal panels
- Non-insulated sheet-metal panels
The production heights for glass and panel blades range from 150 mm to 500 mm depending on the product.
Filigree appearance
All blades are arranged in a filigree, structural-glazing-like composition, without horizontal frame members, and close flush at the sides with the adjoining glazing.
Regulations-compliant
The linear wind suction safeguard, finished identically to the edge seal or with stylish, unobtrusive retaining clips, secures panes with spans of up to 1,200 mm. Needless to say, this is fully compliant with the TRLV (German Technical Regulations for Linearly Supported Glazing). For larger spans, we use mullions that are only visible from the inside.
Quick and simple to replace
The intelligent, patented bayonet fastener system allows the prompt and straightforward replacement of damaged blades by any trade contractor.
Production sizes
From big to small
As a general rule, our louvre windows are manufactured in minimum heights of 340 mm. The maximum width currently runs to around 5,900 mm and the maximum height to some 6,000 mm.
Size parameters
The achievable production sizes depend on the
- surface area of the window
- width-to-height ratio
- section thicknesses
Made-to-measure advice
We will be happy to advise you on the optimum dimensions for your project. Taking your individual requirements and wishes into account, of course. Because we want our solution to pay off for you and your construction project.
Opening action
Top pivots tilt the balance in our favour
For all Lacker louvre windows, the pivot is located in the upper part of the blade assembly. This allows the provision of two offset weatherstrips to ensure an absolutely weathertight barrier.
Outward-looking
The sections can be opened steplessly up to 70°The maximum opening angle is freely selectable. As standard, this value is preset to 70°. The maximum opening angle is freely selectable. As standard, this value is preset to 70°.
Hardwearing hardware
The opening action of the window is such that the blades tilt outwards, with the edge of the top louvre moving away to the inside from the front edge of the weatherstrip. The system design is such that no part of the blades encroach on the internal space in either the open or closed position.
Integral protection
The hardware and motors for our bigAir® louvre windows are self-locking and remain weathertight This absolutely fail-safe, airtight hardware technology obviates the need for the separate locking mechanisms required by “soft” fastening systems.
Integrative protection
Internally mounted bird or insect screens and safety rails can be readily integrated in the frame section of the louvre window.
Sections
Filigree Sections
For our frames, we exclusively use highly insulating, thermally broken multi-chambered sections with 24 mm adapter thickness. The sections can be adjusted to fit all standard stick-system assemblies and steel sections. Packing for greater adapter thicknesses and the widening of the adapter edge are feasible.
Every millimetre counts
We only use filigree profiles. Only filigree sections feature in Lacker’s products. Depending on window size and structural requirements, the face widths generally range from 40 mm to 50 mm and the installation depths from 103 mm to 168 mm. For small louvre windows, we even use sections with face widths of only 35 mm and installation depths of only 65 mm.
Colorful layer
The frame sections are only visible from the inside and can be anodized or coated in any required RAL or DB colour.
Durably weathertight
All weatherstripping is made from ageing- and weather-resistant silicone or EPDM, with double-blade seal. Unlike standard brush seals, the weatherstripping materials and design guarantee full and reliable weather exclusion even after years of service.
Electronics
Driven by ingenuity
We use state-of-the-art single-motor (230 V and 24 V) technology with intelligent controls that makes synchronization problems a thing of the past. At the same time, the risk of failure, the current consumption and the cable cross-sections required for the supply line are significantly reduced.
Intelligent motor
The window’s present (open/closed) position status can, depending on the system, be signalled by the motor. The window’s present (open/closed) position status can, depending on the system, be signalled by the motor.
Connections included
Protection is enhanced through vandal-proof installation of the motor and drive system in the frame section. The window’s present (open/closed) position status can, depending on the system, be signalled by the motor.
Cables made to measure
As an optional extra, we supply our windows complete with cabling. Cable lengths vary from window to window and are adapted by us to meet project-specific requirements.
100% waterproof
For indoor swimming pools and other damp or humid spaces, we install our watertight drive system with IP 67 rating. This offers exactly the same functions and benefits as our standard drives.

Options
Optional extras
We only use highly insulating, thermally separated multi-chamber profiles with a clamping thickness of 24 mm for the frame. The profiles can be adapted to all standard mullion and transom system profiles and steel profiles. The clamping thickness and widening of the clamping edge can be doubled.
Anti-trap function
Radar and motion detectors can be used with bigAir® louvre windows depending on the room usage and building situation. Their clearly defined application options result from the additional control housings required, separate supply lines, so-called blind spots and unintentional false stops caused by cross-traffic.
Safety Class
Safety Class 4 applications to VFF (German Association of Window and Facade Manufacturers) data sheet: Lacker prefers in-built systems using Mayser safety edge contact strips. This eliminates the need for additional electrical supply lines, on-site adjustments and cumbersome external control boxes.
Safety Class 2 and 3 applications to VFF data sheet: For applications subject to only a small risk of accident,
Position status monitoring
bigAir® louvre windows can be equipped with an incremental encoder function or with reed contacts to monitor the opening status.
Vapourproof and watertight drives
bigAir® louvre windows can be fitted with IP 67-rated electric motors to allow their use in indoor swimming pools, tropical gardens and other damp or humid spaces.
Insect and bird screens
The outward-tilting blades of the louvre windows allow bird and insect screen systems to be readily fixed to the frame in the interior.
Guard rails
To protect against falling, elegantly styled stainless-steel bar guard rails can be mounted internally.
Lacker Taifun four-point locking system
The Lacker Taifun – a special electromechanically controlled, hardware-independent four-point locking system – was purpose-designed for extreme applications in towers and high-rise buildings. It keeps windows absolutely weathertight, even under the severest wind loads of up to +4,000 Pa and -8,000 Pa. We are not aware of any other opening light worldwide that is able to withstand extreme storm conditions on this scale.
Lacker emergency opening/closing system
Our manual emergency opening/closing system allows the operation of windows even in the event of mains failure.
Lifting lugs for crane assembly
We also strive to make our window systems fast and easy to install. Our window units are therefore supplied with lifting lugs for crane assembly upon request.
